I’m no Greek scholar… but if you look at the world Christmas… and you cut out Christ… all your left with is mas… and in Spanish that just means MORE.

Without Christ… Christmas can become MORE:
-Work, especially if you’re in retail or food industry
-Running around trying to find gifts
-Spending money
-Cooking
-Cleaning
-Traveling

It is a weakness of human nature that we avoid those with whom we are in conflict .

But when this avoidance is directed to God because we want to avoid our mortality, sin, and accountability before Him, we practice a way of living that eventually takes on a form of false worship: Busyness and Achievement.

Individuals, even whole societies, engage in the worship of Busyness and Achievement as a way to avoid ultimate reality.

This week we look at the life of Nebuchadnezzar... A man running from God by building his empire... Until a loving God strips away the noise and gets his undivided attention.

Do you find yourself working to sustain or protect how others perceive you?

It is subtle shift from being a person who cares appropriately about their reputation, to making our own image an ultimate thing.

The life of Naaman is a lesson in what is required for change to come into our lives when our misplaced worship of reputation prevents us from appropriately worshipping God.
